Colombo, March 10 (Daily Mirror)- The book released by Gotabaya Rajapaksa on an alleged Conspiracy to Oust him is the latest attempt by the “president who ran away” to paint an image of innocence,National Unity Alliance said.

A statement issued by the National Unity Alliance said the seventh executive president was ousted by the people of Sri Lanka.

"The people highlighted his lack of equitable governance, his penchant for unchallenged power and his serious lack of accountability, responsibility and willingness to be portrayed as a racist apart from turning a blind eye towards corruption and the erosion of the rule of law.

He appeared to have completely forgotten the ideals of democratic ideals so cherished by all Sri Lanka. Gotabaya was ousted not just by the people - divine intervention came into play when he without rhyme or reason gave his name to the cremation of Muslims who perished due to Covid 19," the statement added.

"Instead of listening to real experts he decided that he was the expert in various critical issues where he was clearly out of his depth. Challenges like the fertiliser ban, he failed in every aspect of governance. Gotabaya Rajapaksa was a dictator in every sense of the word. The Almighty stepped in to save the people of Sri Lanka from a calamitous situation. Thank God Almighty. Events have proven that scoundrels try and find a way-out using patriotism. That after all - along with sovereignty - is the last refuge of any scoundrel, it said.

Can’t agree more! He had a vision but his key advisers were either playing him out or didn’t have the knowledge in executing them. So as a leader, he’s definitely in most books of running a failed business or a government. Only thing he can do now is to redeem some goodwill by highlighting all the corrupt officials and those unresolved murder cases during his and his brother’s regime. At least that will redeem some good faith now and for his after life. If not his bad karma will follow him to all eternity.

He did it with good intentions but it was hasty and based on bad calculation. Chemical fertiliser mafia and Opposition as well as his own people did not support the implementation. Since he believed half baked information and could not assess the results on his own, he was considered as a weak man in this capacity. He was strong during the civil war but that Gota was already gone probably due to ageing.

This book is published to get sympathy of the voters now, totally agree here with the NUA because the timing is so crucial for the SLPP . They do know where they are heading now because the blunders are already made by Gota, he was is s dictator and a failed president. The people of Sri Lanka sent him home it’s not a conspiracy, had he known to govern the country well he would still be sitting on that hot seat he and his party along with his brothers was just nepotism, the curse was from Almighty he cremated hundred of Muslims bodies during covid thou the religion forbids cremations that was the curse he got first then followed the rest. The statement issued by the NUA on the book of the popularly overthrown President Gotabaya, which accurately describes his personality, his lust for power and his miserable and failed policies, is a more than curious journalistic document!!! It puts forward the absurd thesis that it was not the people who brought about Gota's downfall, but the Almighty through divine intervention!!! This is more than a very surprising statement, especially in a Buddhist country that is characterized by an atheistic philosophy that knows neither a personal God nor the intervention of other "otherworldly" gods!!! Gotabaya's loss of power took place for purely earthly, understandable reasons through the power, strength and unity of the Sri Lankan people!!! It had completely natural political and economic causes and did not require any supernatural explanations!!!
