Colombo,January 17 (Daily Mirror) -Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (17) and provided a statement before leaving the premises.

The CID had summoned Rajapaksa as part of an investigation into an electricity connection linked to a property in Kataragama registered under the name of G. Rajapaksa.

Why not the CID consider giving accomodation to GOTA in their premises. This can enable the CID to get at him at time they want. Otherwise they have togo through the process of sending invitation everytime their is a query. At the rate things are coming to light, this is not excessive.

There was such a hue and cry and criticism of RW when he supposedly turned a blind eye to the nefarious activities and theft and corruption that the Rajapakses engaged in. The big question that was always asked was: why aren't these Rajapakse rogues in jail? Was there a secret deal that had been done? Etc etc.... Alas, here we are with a new government but yet the Rajapakse villains are walking around freely and enjoying the spoils of their treachery. Where are the critics now? Going after the small fish is just for show - the big sharks are still enjoying their freedom.
