Colombo, Feb 04 (Daily Mirror) – As Sri Lanka marks its 77th Independence Day, world leaders and foreign nations have extended their congratulations, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation with the island nation.
Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar took to social media to extend his warm felicitations to Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and the people of Sri Lanka. He reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding, multifaceted partnership with Sri Lanka.

China also joined in extending its greetings, with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka delivering a congratulatory message from H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. The message highlighted China’s continued commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
Meanwhile, the United States, a key international partner of Sri Lanka, conveyed its greetings through Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In his official statement, he underscored the enduring partnership between the two nations, built on shared democratic values and deep-rooted people-to-people connections. He also expressed optimism about expanding trade, investment, and security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
