Get permission prior to making public statements, medical admin officers told

Medical administrative officers in hospitals and other institutions which come under the purview of the Health Ministry, have been advised to obtain permission of the Ministry Secretary prior to making public statements on anything other than technical matters, the Health Ministry said today.

Acting Director General of Health, Lal Panaapitiya, said permission from the Ministry Secretary was mandatory especially to hold news conferences.

He said all medical administrative officers had been notified and emphasized that action would be taken against the officials who failed to follow the directives.
