Gem and Jewellery Authority chairman passes away
Colombo, Sept. 12 (Daily Mirror) - Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, Navin Suriyaarachchi, passed away this afternoon (12) while receiving treatment at a private hospital, following a brief illness.
Suriyaarachchi, who served as a consultant to the Capital Markets Division of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group and as a Director of SANASA Development Bank during his professional career, was appointed Chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Authority under the new government.
He carried out his duties voluntarily, without drawing a salary.
