Gazette issued; bringing fuel supply, power, health care under essential services category

A special gazette notification has been issued, declaring the supply and distribution of petroleum products and fuel, the electricity supply, hospitals and all related services essential services.

The gazette notification and the declarations therein came to effect from yesterday (20).

The gazette notification was issued with the signature of President's Secretary Gaminin Senarath by the order of the President.

According to the notification, all services connected to the supply of electricity, the supply or distribution of petroleum products and fuel, all services, work or labour, of any description whatsoever, necessary or required to be done in connection with the maintenance, and the reception, care, feeding and treatment, of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries, and other similar institutions
