GMOA issues ultimatum to Health Minister

Colombo, April 5 (Daily Mirror) - The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has issued an ultimatum to Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, granting him until 8.00 a.m. tomorrow (06) to begin discussions to resolve the ongoing doctors’ strike.

GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa alleged that the minister has been unwilling to engage in meaningful dialogue on the issues raised, leading to the continued trade union action.

He said the association’s next steps will depend on the minister’s response within the given timeframe.

He further charged that delays in decision-making are taking a toll on patients, who continue to suffer amid the disruption to healthcare services caused by the standoff.

Meanwhile, the GMOA has empowered its Executive Council to make future decisions regarding the strike, enabling it to act swiftly based on developments.
