Colombo, January 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Customs, with the full cooperation of joint trade unions, launched a four-day expedited container clearance process today, aiming to clear the backlog of containers destined for examination yards by February 2, Customs Media Spokesman and Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda said.
He said that all examination yards and the Valuation Directorate will operate from today till Sunday (2) with full staff, ensuring that all queued containers are cleared.
Therefore, all consignees, clearing agents and transporters are requested to extend their fullest cooperation by attending to their tasks on time, enabling the backlog to be cleared within the given period.
All other government agencies working alongside the Sri Lanka Customs have been informed to support this initiative.
