Four cops arrested for robbing youth

Four policemen attached to Malabe police post were arrested today by the Kottawa police on suspicion of their involvement in a robbery at Vidyala junction in Kottawa.

They are alleged to have robbed a young boy of his cellular phone and a gold chain. The victim stated that he was a resident of Weeraketiya area and that he was on a visit to one of his sisters living at Vidyala junction. He said the four men approached him under the pretext of inquiring about a road and robbed him of his belongings.

During investigation the police had recovered the gold chain and the cellular phone and seized the trishaw used by the suspects.

The Police said the four suspects, included a police sergeant and three constables. They were to be produced before Homagama magistrate.

Kottawa police are conducting further investigations. (Buddhika Kumarasiri)

They should be withdrawn from the Police and remanded, since the Police have been given the full powers to arrest people who are protesting then how come we tolerate such things.

Ever since the attacks on protestors it is only a matter of time the police and STF people who are inclined to do bad things get more into it. Steeling from young boy, by the police is despicable. Police and STF thieving and harming anyone for their own benefit is wrong too, and how can these things be stopped?
