Four arrested with counterfeit Rs. 5,000 notes

Colombo, Sept. 18 (Daily Mirror) - Four suspects were arrested in Habarana, Anuradhapura, and Pihimbiyagollewa with a large stock of counterfeit Rs. 5,000 currency notes, Police said.

One suspect was initially taken into custody in Habarana with three fake notes in his possession. Based on the information he provided, two more suspects were arrested in Habarana and Anuradhapura with two fake notes each.

Further interrogations led to the arrest of another suspect in Pihimbiyagollewa today (18), where police seized 138 counterfeit Rs. 5,000 notes, along with a laptop, a scanner and a printing machine believed to have been used in the operation.

The arrested individuals, aged between 23 and 42, are residents of Habarana and Anuradhapura.
