Four individuals succumbed to the Covid-19 today (21) mounting the death toll to 87.
According to the Government Information Department, two males aged 53, 84 and two females aged 70, 75 are among the deceased.
All the victims are residents of the Colombo area.
A total of 13 Covid-19 deaths were reported within the weekend.
The details of the deceased are as follows,
1. A 70-year-old female from Colombo 15 succumbed to the virus on admission to the National Hospital in Colombo. She passed away on Saturday (21) and the cause of death was identified as Covid-19 pneumonia.
2. A 53-year-old male, a resident of Colombo 12 was pronounced dead on admission to the National Hospital in Colombo. He had passed away on Friday (20) and the cause of death was ruled as chronic lung infection exacerbated by Covid-19.
3. An 84-year-old female from Borella was reported dead at her residence on Saturday (21). The cause of death was ruled as Covid-19 pneumonia.
4. A 75-year-old male, resident of Colombo 10 passed away at the IDH after being transferred from the National Hospital in Colombo. The cause of death was identified as Covid-19 pneumonia. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
