Former senior DIG arrested over false complaint

Former Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Priyantha Jayakody has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly filing a false complaint claiming that underworld figure 'Kehelbaddara Padme' had threatened him.

Police said the former senior officer is currently in CID custody at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital due to a medical condition.

Most senior police officers are currupted to the core. There should be some rule that all police officers must declare their assets every 3 years.
