Former Presidents have used underworld figures to commit various crimes, Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala told Parliament today.

"Late President J.R. Jayewardene used Gonawala Sunil to stone the residence of a Supreme Court judge, late President R. Premadasa got underworld figures to abduct and kill journalist Richard De Soysa. The movie Rani, which is about Richard Soysa is being screened today. I would like to tell Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa to watch this movie in secret and find out what his father was upto during his tenure as the President," Watagala said.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa associated with underworld figures Julampitiye Amare and Wambotta. Julampitiye Amare was the body guard of MP Namal Rajapaksa at one time, " he said.
