Colombo, March 6 (Daily Mirror) - Former Presidents have destroyed state TV channels ITN and SLRC during the past years, ruling party MP Jagath Manuwarna told Parliament today.

He said none of the former Presidents have paid SLRC for their election campaigns.

"These channels have worked only for the governments that had ruled the nation during the past years. SLRC has done work worth Rs. 122 million in 2021, Rs. 144 million in 2022 and Rs. 154 million in 2023," the MP said.

"It is no longer possible to run these institutions using public funds. These channels should be made to generate their own funds, " he added.

If you can't, please tell AKD and hand it over to some one else. Failing give it to the opposition. It would run much better without any political interference. Concentrate on catching the crooks.

In terms of financially, they may have done so but culturally and morale, you too were responsible for getting the TV channels down by screening soap operas of bad taste! And, to make state TV channels profitable, you can seek the advice of a particular private channel who is the unofficial TV channel of the JVP govt!

For the last 4 months it was a never ending game of blaming the past governments. That is why 42.31% of the the people voted to bring comrade AKD into power. Now it is over get on with work and tell your ministerial comrades to deliver what was promised. Still there no concrete plan how to bridge RS 2 Trillion budget deficit. Just talking talking an talking. There are no figures to quantify the revenue generation plan. Comrades, you have less than 9 months to deliver.
