Former Police Inspector arrested over Weligama shooting in 2023

Colombo, Feb 24 (Daily Mirror) -Former Police Inspector Jagath Nishantha, wanted in connection with a shooting near a prominent hotel in Weligama on December 31, 2023, has been arrested.

Following the incident, in which a police officer lost their life, Nishantha had reportedly been overseas. Police said he was taken into custody yesterday (23 February) upon his return to Sri Lanka.

It,s clear the goverment is very slow the judical actions not only Desanandu case but also other former goverment ministeres cases, as you said we have a reasionable about the present goverment members still backing for them. It’s not a valid excuse for letting this individual go free.to arrest. Although both matters require investigation, they are separate cases. In the W15 case, a homicide has occurred.
