Former Minister C.B. Rathnayake remanded

Former Minister C.B. Rathnayake, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over an offence said to have been committed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was remanded till December 16 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.

According to investigations conducted by the Assets Investigation Division of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption under Section 23(A)(1) of the Bribery Act, the suspect had been taken into custody over an alleged financial fraud said to have taken place at the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Private Transport Services and thereafter the Ministry of Productivity Enhancement.
