Former MP Hesha Withanage discharged from case

Colombo, August 21 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura ordered the discharge of former Parliamentarian Hesha Withanage from a case filed over the assault on retired Major and Attorney-at-Law Ajith Prasanna in front of Temple Trees, Kollupitiya, on November 1, 2019.

The first suspect in the case was former Parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma, while Hesha Withanage was named as the second suspect.

When the matter was taken up, the Magistrate observed that the complainant had failed to appear before court despite being issued two notices. 

Accordingly, the court ordered that Withanage be discharged from the case.

It was revealed that the first suspect, former MP Palitha Thewarapperuma, has since passed away, while the second suspect, former MP Hesha Withanage was present in open court when the case was called.
