Former CCD Director surrenders over Weligama shooting

Colombo, April 24 (Daily Mirror) - Former Director of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), ASP Nevil Silva, surrendered to the Matara Magistrate’s Court in connection with the shooting incident near the W15 Hotel in Weligama in 2023.

Earlier, the Matara Magistrate’s Court had issued arrest warrants for eight former CCD officers, including suspended IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, naming them as suspects in the incident, which occurred in front of the W15 Hotel in the Pelena area of Weligama on December 31, 2023.

With Silva’s surrender, he becomes the ninth suspect in the ongoing investigation.
