Former Beliatta chairman arrested over alleged financial misconduct
Colombo, Dec, 12 (Daily Mirror) - Former Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Cyril Munasinghe has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities during his tenure.
According to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), the arrest relates to the suspected misappropriation of Rs. 36,001,344.94 between January 1 and December 31, 2012. The action was taken under Section 23(a) of the Bribery Act, the commission said in a statement.
