Colombo, August 13 (Daily Mirror) - In the wake of the ticket controversy on the Ella Odyssey train, Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena said foreigners who had purchased tickets from agents at higher prices could travel in the train untill August 31 after proving their identity and paying the due penalty.
He said the grace period was given only till August 31 after considering the inconvenience caused to the foreingers.
The Deputy Minister told reporters that the identity card for locals and the passport number for foreigners is a must when reserving tickets after September 30 and that agents will not be able to resort to malpractices thereafter.
