Colombo, July 21 (Daily Mirror) - A foreign travel ban was issued on former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardenas's daughter Rochelle Melanie Abeygunawardena and her husband by the Matugama Magistrate's Court today.

Melanie Abeygunawardena is the previous owner of the illegally assembled jeep used by MP Jagath Vithana's son, who is currently in remand custody on charges of using an illegally assembled jeep.

Police had searched the residence of Melanie Abeygunawardenam and her husband to arrest them, but they were not home.

The court issued a foreign travel ban on them following a request to the court by the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit and the Matugama Police, stating that the couple may travel abroad.

NEXT BEST THING IS TO ARREST ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER TILL THE TWO SUSPECTS TURN UP. IF SMART PLAN B WOULD HAVE BEEN PUT INTO OPERATION AND MOST FLEE THE COUNTRY, WHICH IS A GOOD POSSIBILITY.

Do you not know that you can't just "arrest another family member" unless there are legal grounds and sufficient evidence to do so. Simply arresting another family member in order to force out the person you want is a mafia tactic. Is that the 'system change' you advocate for Sri Lanka??

These people play tricks with the legal system. It was Desabandu, Prasanna, and now Rajitha and this lady. The courts need to take stricter measures against those evading. Otherwise this trend will continue.
