Foreign Minister meets Julie Chung over US tariffs

Colombo, April 7 (Daily Mirror) - Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath met with US Ambassador Julie Chung to discuss matters related to the reciprocal tariffs imposed on Sri Lanka by the US recently.

The meeting took place at the Foreign Ministry this evening.

The impact of the new tariffs on Sri Lankan exports were discussed at legnth, the Ministry said.

The Minister stressed the need to review the new tariffs so as to continue with the IMF programme without any issues and also to continue the rescue efforts after the economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka in 2022.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Secretary Aruni Ranaraja, Diplomat and Senior Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dharshana M. Perera and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Europe and North America, Sugeeshwara Gunaratna.
