Flood warning for Maduru Oya basin extended

Colombo, Nov. 27 (Daily Mirror) - The flood warning issued for the Maduru Oya Basin has been extended for an additional 48 hours, the Irrigation Department said.

The extension follows the earlier alert issued under reference DI/Hydro/103(V) and Flood Warning Bulletin No. 01, released on November 26, 2025, at 8.30 a.m. 

Officials said continued rainfall and rising water levels have maintained the risk of flooding in low-lying and vulnerable areas.
