Fixed allowance for pre-school teachers from today

The Government has approved to provide a fixed allowance,  'Guru Abhimani' after a certain training given for preschool teachers. 

Accordingly, it is learnt that it is suitable to increase the existing allowance of Rs.250/= to Rs.2500/= under identified criteria, effective from today.

The decision was taken by the cabinet ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting, considering the pre-school teachers as key players in human resource development and under the 'Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor' national policy framework.

Also approved to provide the said allowance to 25,000 pre-school teachers as the first phase. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
