Fisherman missing after boat overturns off Trincomalee



Trincomalee, July 04 (Daily Mirror): One fisherman went missing missing while two others were rescued after their fishing boat reportedly overturned in the seas off Trincomalee, police said.

According to police, the three fishermen had set out on a fishing trip on Thursday when their boat overturned in waters off Trincomalee.

The two survivors later managed to return to their dinghy and alerted the Sri Lanka Navy about the incident.

The Navy subsequently launched a search and rescue operation with the assistance of the local fishing community to locate the missing fisherman, who is believed to be the owner of the dinghy.

Police said investigations are underway by the Trincomalee Harbour Police into the incident.
