First two Sinopec fuel consignments arrive

Sinopec Energy Lanka (Private) Limited announced the arrival of its first two consignments of fuel at the Colombo Port on August 01.

While issuing a statement, they said the consignments were shipped by Zhi Lu and Chang Hang Kai Tuo and consisted of around 42,000 metric tons of petroleum products.

These products include 92 Octane Petrol, 95 Octane Petrol, Auto Diesel and Super Diesel.

Sinopec has made a special note that the arrival of this first consignment will underscore its commitment towards a stable fuel supply in the country.

On May 22, 2023 Sinopec entered into a long-term contract with the Power and Energy Ministry for the import, storage, distribution and sale of petroleum products.

Sinopec was granted a specialized operating license in July and thereafter signed its agreement with the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka on July 14. The arrival of its first consignments marks another significant milestone in this partnership.

Amid the arrival of its first consignments, preparations are already underway toward the establishment of 150 fully operational and franchised filling stations across the island.
