Firearms licence renewal deadline extended to January

Colombo, Dec. 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Defence has announced an extension of the deadline for renewing firearms licences for individuals and institutions for the year 2026.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said the licence renewal period, which commenced on September 1, 2025, and was originally scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2025, has been extended in view of the prevailing disaster situation in the country.

Accordingly, the deadline for renewing firearms licences for 2026 has now been extended until January 31, 2026, the statement added.
