Colombo, April 17 (Daily Mirror) - According to the family members, the funeral service for former Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma is scheduled to take place this  Friday (10).

He had experienced an electric shock yesterday while attempting to connect two electrical wires at his residence and had passed away after being admitted to the Nagoda Hospital.

He had already prepared his burial plot in Kalutara for him to be laid to rest. His last wish was for his burial to take place within 24 hours of his death and his remains to be taken for burial on his own carriage.

a simple and kind person even in his peaks of fame and power. He never boasted, exploited, and looted the public money in his post. A great social service man and a great human being. Many of our MPs are addicted to power, influence, money, and pride, he was a simple service and he leaves a legacy for all. He stood for humanity beyond his race, religion, and color, he is indeed, honest and polite .. May God bless him

Sad and shocking news. Can never forget how he stood for and helped Muslims during the aluthgama riots. He projected a different image but really a man who stood for principles. A loss to Sri Lanka

Good people do not live for long. He is a great human and a humble politician. All MPs should follow his principles to overcome the financial crisis.

A wonderful and a brave human being , an ideal candidate to be a Sri Lankan president. He would have overcome all obstacles and solved all the ethnic problems and united the country. And equally importantly a person like him leading the country ,India wouldn’t have dared to intervene in Sri Lankan affairs. He had the unique traits of a genuine hero .

Which party he represented is immaterial, but he had won the confidence of all the people of his area and treated all communities equally, this is the best quality he had. May his precious soul rest in peace in heaven.

He was a very simple person who comes out and help out of the way with his own money if anyone is in trouble. I know pretty well for so many Estate Tamil children he had bought books, shoes etc., out of his own money unlike other dirty politicians who rob the money and donate for petty politics.
