Colombo, March 19 (Daily Mirror) - A certain filling station in Thimbirigasyaya had wanted Rs. 3,000 to issue fuel without a QR code from a vehicle owner, MP G.D. Sooriyabandara told Parliament today.

Minister of Transport Bimal Ratnayake, who responded, said such eventualities are always possible but assured that such things will not be possible from today as all issues pertaining to the QR code are being resolved.

Issues with QR code can be resolved but the Pumpers can pretend to take the QR code and pump fuel taking a bribe. Who knows part of the bribe can be for the shed owner

Today I pumped petrol on QR system odd/even day schedule at a petrol shed in wellawatte Waited from 0630 hr, 4th in the queue. Pumping began at 0900 am went on very smoothly with the police officers around Three wheelers motor cyclist separate queue Cars separate line. Diesel vehicles on diesel pump side. Pumped 12 litres petrol ( showed 13 in sms a genuine mistake I assume as used, in a busy morning with long queue, leaving 3 litres balance) It was a smmoth peaceful dignified job done, credit should go first to the traffic police at that petrol shed and to the staff pumping petrol It was a total contrast of 20/11/2022 at the very same petrol shed of customer treatment. 11 litrs pumped at 1918 hrs but sms stating quota used 20 L which should not be the case, though the expiry of that quota is midnight of 20/11/2022 and that trip was an experience meted out, not pleasant to say the least So there we go, the experiences in life!!
