Filipino woman arrested at BIA with Rs. 61.8 mn worth of ’Kush’

Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - A 63-year-old Filipino woman was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, in the early hours of today after Airport Police Narcotics Bureau officers allegedly seized "Kush" drugs worth an estimated Rs. 61.8 million from her luggage.

The suspect had arrived from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific flight CX611 at 12.15 a.m.

During a search, officers discovered 6.18 kg of "Kush" drugs concealed in five packets hidden inside two pieces of luggage she was carrying.

The suspect and the seized narcotics are to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court today. Police said they will seek detention orders to conduct further investigations into the smuggling attempt.
