Failed shooting attempt reported in Panadura

Panadura, June 02 (Daily Mirror) - A failed shooting attempt was reported in Walana, Panadura, this morning, police said.

They said that two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle targeted a person, but the firearm failed to discharge.

Investigations revealed that the incident is linked to an ongoing dispute between two groups involved in drug trafficking in the Panadura area.

The Panadura (South) Police are investigating the incident.

No drug cartel can operate without the specific support of Police and Political Persons. This is a true fact. When a drug addict or drug seller is caught and arrested, the next moment he is replaced and the business goes on. Our Jails are fully corrupt, where those arrested can work from inside with all the communication provided to run the network. It is jailors themselves who are the transporters of this equipment. We need to have the security inside Jails in two independent levels. The operation of the Jail needs to be by the jailors and the access outside to inside and within the premises need to be by another independent force. Even the Jailors need to be searched when them move from one area to the other by the this Independent Force. Every three months, a complete search of the jail premises needs to take place using metal detectors and every smuggled item confiscated and removed.
