Expressways generate over Rs. 100 million revenue on April 11, 12

Colombo, April 13 (Daily Mirror) - Over Rs. 100 million in revenue was generated from expressway tolls on April 11 and 12, according to R.A.D. Kahatapitiya, Director of the Expressway Operation, Maintenance, and Management Division.

He stated that a total of 297,736 vehicles used the expressways during the two days, generating Rs. 102,378,800 in toll income.

On April 11, 163,541 vehicles contributed Rs. 54,066,450, while on April 12 a total of 134,195 vehicles brought in Rs. 47,012,350, Kahatapitiya added.

Yes that understanding is correct.JVP mentioned that. But million others were able to do the same, save travel time, save on fuel , enjoy a scenic drive, and so on. But JVP was fully against those projects. Now tm, I won't be surprised if they claim that they built these highways.

Why can't some of this revenue be used to carry out neglected maintenance work? Poor maintenance also contributes to increased risk of accidents.

Those who voted for NPP should not use the highways as the NPP was against these highways , AKD critisized these projects and protested against those in the past. So their supporters should refrain from using these highways.

What is this fool is talking. NPP is not against building highways they are against the commission earned in millions by the previous regimes added to the construction cost.

@Mr Lion but Wolf is more appropriate , go and listen to AKD and JVP talk shows couple of years ago. They were fully against these highway projects , commission or no commission. We cannot help you because your brain is fully washed and filled with NPP stories and lies. AKD once asked if these highways are for eating?

How much did we spent to build it? There is a metrics called TCO (total cost of ownership), use it to measure. Without knowing the investment, revenue number is like driving half blind.

Governmen should close down the ailing Sri Lankan Airlines which has been running at a loss since it's inception about 45 years ago except during the wmanagement by Emirates. Instead run a taxi service called the Sri Lankan Government Taxi Service which could generate more profit than the ailiing Sri Lankan Airlines. We don't have the resources the know how or the expertise to manage or run an international airline of such magnitude.
