Evening thundershowers likely in Kandy during coming days

Colombo, April 24 (Daily Mirror) - There is a possibility of thundershowers occurring in the Kandy district during the evening hours over the coming days, particularly after 2 p.m., Meteorology Department Deputy Director Meril Mendis said.

Speaking to the media, he noted that people queuing in Kandy for the Sacred Tooth Relic exposition may experience lightning and thunderstorms accompanied by heavy showers exceeding 75 mm.

Therefore, Mendis urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimise potential damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during these thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director added that thundershowers are also expected at times in the Western, North-Western and Sabaragamuwa provtinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
