Employees who engage in essential services during the period of travel restrictions, required to possess a letter or any other document from their head of the institutions in addition to their service ID calling for their service to travel trough checkpoints, Police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the essential service staffers required to keep a letter in their possession or in mobile.
He said this decision was taken as some individuals were travelling on roads violating their service ID.
Meanwhile, DIG Rohana said the permits which have already been issued to those engaged in delivery of essential goods would be extended till June 7, and they do not required to visit police stations to extend the permits.
He said only the pharmacies will be opened during the restrictions period.
The spokesman said economic centres will be opened on May 29, 30 and 31. Those who will be entering and leaving the economic centres required to produce verification documents to police to pass through their vehicles at checkpoints.
Also, the vaccination programme will continue, despite the restrictions and people can travel to their nearest centres to get their vaccinations.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
