Colombo, March 18 (Daily Mirror)- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Eran Wickramaratne has resigned from the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) protesting against the appointment of ineligible members to the committee.

“It is dissatisfying that members who have been appointed to COPE have allegations against their personal conduct, particularly on financial transactions. This also contributes to citizen’s loss of confidence in Parliament,” he said in his letter of resignation which was sent to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.

Ranil's master strokes failed in the past. Now as the Big Boss he is using all methods to hide corruption in the State sector. Hats off to Eran for resigning declining to work with a questionable person as head of COPE

Height of Meritocracy in the RW regime. Excellent move by an educated and respectable gentleman. Well done Eran.

It was Basil's master stroke to embarrass Ranil. It has backfired on Basil

Well Done Eran. You are known as a slow coach. But you are one of 2 whom the citizens don't level allegations of corruption against. Maintain that good name.

"Slow and steady wins the race". Recently I had a carpenter who was slow but the work and finish was excellent. All the other carpenters work fast give poor quality and bluff and run away when they are paid.

Exactly. Who wants to work with rogues.

    Very good move.

What are the educational qualifications of present appointed Chairman of Cope?

    007 Monday, 18 March 2024 03:08 PM

    Goldsmith?

Sam Silva Monday, 18 March 2024 05:30 PM

Besides the qualifications, if all are crooks what good could happen with this so called fake COPE. Waste of money and time

Shouted shouted and nobody had a ear. Finally a jeweller teleported to the big chair.

This is the correct thing to do when the pin president appoints rogues without any qualifications to key posts.

COPE cannot be a mockery, it has to question people, who are educated and experts of their fields, in such a place lowly educated bum is headed, it’s good leave it

Truth seeker Monday, 18 March 2024 03:52 PM

We raise our hats to you Hon Eran. My earnest hope is for you to be our PRESIDENT. Mark my words, it WILL happen.

Good move. Most of these committees are infested with rogues. Afterall there are no genuine people in that parliament and therefore from where can we appoint anybody to COPE?

    Buddhist Monday, 18 March 2024 04:22 PM

Let's see how many more COPE members have self respect and resign like Eran.

Cess Pit Tuesday, 19 March 2024 09:36 AM

Why not resign completely from parliament too and give up your privileges

    Sambo Monday, 18 March 2024 07:15 PM

How could an educated person be in a Byce cope committee.

    Anil Monday, 18 March 2024 08:35 PM

Rohitha was appointed by 100,000 plus people’s votes, whereas Eran is not. So how come a person who was appointed by the party leader believing he is a top economic brain. But he is not.

Tissa Fernando Monday, 18 March 2024 08:40 PM

Why not fight them and make you heard and point out their difficiencies. Resigning is way of running away from responsibilities. That means you are not capable.

Pathmaranjan Perera Monday, 18 March 2024 10:41 PM

    Excellent move.

Good, Eran! However, you've licked RW back while with Pambaya? never talked about the Bank robbery by RW and RK Nayagam!

Baya Gulla Tuesday, 19 March 2024 05:10 PM

He can't cope with the pressure.
