Emirates enhances Colombo service with four-class Boeing 777 from July 18

Colombo, July 15 (Daily Mirror) - Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, is set to enhance its service on the Colombo-Dubai route by deploying its newly retrofitted four-class Boeing 777 aircraft from July 18, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) said.

The aircraft, featuring the airline’s award-winning Premium Economy cabin, will operate as flights EK650 and EK651 - marking the second daily Emirates service to Sri Lanka equipped with the elevated cabin product.

The enhanced Boeing 777, with refreshed interiors and upgraded features across all cabins, is part of Emirates’ broader effort to roll out Premium Economy on more routes. Colombo now joins over 40 destinations globally that offer this sought-after travel class.

Flight EK650 will depart Dubai at 2:40 a.m. daily and arrive in Colombo at 8:35 a.m., while the return leg, EK651, will leave Colombo at 10:05 a.m. and arrive in Dubai at 12:55 p.m. Passengers can book Premium Economy seats through the Emirates website, mobile app, travel agents, or ticket offices.

The retrofitted aircraft boasts a four-class configuration: 8 First Class private suites, 40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 24 Premium Economy seats arranged in a spacious 2-4-2 formation, and 256 Economy Class seats. All cabins have been ergonomically designed to provide maximum comfort, with Premium Economy offering 6-way adjustable headrests, generous legroom, and a refined in-flight experience tailored for both business and leisure travelers.

Business Class passengers will enjoy features inspired by the Emirates A380, including champagne trim, light wood finishes, personal mini-bars, and 23-inch HD screens. The seats recline into fully flat beds, stretching up to 78.6 inches.

Premium Economy passengers will also benefit from a 35kg checked baggage allowance and an additional 10kg for carry-on items.

Emirates currently operates four daily flights between Colombo and Dubai - three direct and one via Malé. The introduction of the refurbished Boeing 777 highlights the airline’s ongoing investment in providing world-class service and enhanced travel options for Sri Lankan travelers.
