Colombo, May 1 (Daily Mirror) - Highlighting that there will be an electricity tariff hike after the Local Government elections, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is merely following his predecessor Ranil Wickremesinghe rather than delivering the promises he had made during the past elections.

“President Dissanayake has given in to the IMF just like the former President and has agreed to increase the electricity tariff. We have heard from reliable sources that the power tariff will be increased on the sixth of this month,” Premadasa said speaking during the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) May Day rally in Nuwara Eliya.

Privatisation of the CEB will be an unpopular decision in the short term with long term benefits. Unnecessary staff will be fired, systems will be put in place to avoid misuse of resources, focus will be on profitability and providing services at competitive rates. NPP needs to accept that they’re not likely to be voted into power ever again and do what’s right instead of what will make them popular.

Ha! you want the PRESIDENT/NPP to clean up the filthy mess your leader and or ALIGNED party's hadn't the GUTS to do, because some of them were feathering their nests and the others in Govt did not speak up. Pity you did not give your advice to the WIPED OUT lot of politicians, had you done so the PRESIDENT and HIS GOVT would not have come in, but since your advice was not given and people like you turned a BLIND EYE, THIS IS THE REASON THE MAJORITY DECIDED TO BRING IN ANURA/NPP, BAD LUCK THE PRESIDENT AND NPP ARE HERE TO STAY FOR THE LONG TERM, SO YOU MAY AS WELL GET USED TO THIS FACT.
