Electricity tariff increase shocks fuel stations

With the recent increase in the electricity tariff by 18 percent, there will be issues with running refueling stations in the future, the Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) said.

The co-secretary of the association, Kapila Naotunna, said that with the current economic situation, fuel sales have already been severely affected.

This issue will affect all factories as well as refueling stations in the country. There is an increase in expenses, and the daily sales are dropping, he said.

In the meantime, Naotunna said that the government's decision to revise the fuel prices on a daily basis is satisfactory and will provide a great service to the people. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
