Electricity bill payment concession extends to tourism industry for two years

The government has decided to extend the grace period for tourist accommodation providers for two years from March 1, 2021, for the payment of electricity bills. 

The decision was announced today during the cabinet meeting at the Information Department following a view to revive the tourism industry affected by the epidemic since January 18, 2021, 

But the expected growth has not taken place due to the spread of the coronavirus epidemic again since April 2021.

The proposal was made by the Tourism Minister to extend the grace period for another 2 years. (Chaturanga Samarawickram)
