Electric wheelchairs donated to war-disabled veterans

Colombo, April 9 (Daily Mirror) - A special programme to donate modern electric wheelchairs to war-disabled veterans was held today at the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RSA) office.

The initiative was conducted under the patronage of RSA Chairman, Brigadier S. B. Kohona (Retd), and is notable for being the first instance where such donations were funded entirely through government financial provisions. Previously, similar assistance had been provided through private contributions.

Speaking at the event, the RSA Chairman highlighted that supporting the daily lives of fully disabled war veterans remains a key priority. He said that efforts would be made to expand similar welfare programmes in the future to better assist those who sustained life-altering injuries in service to the nation.

The event was attended by Ranaviru Seva Authority staff, senior tri-forces officers, invited guests, and beneficiary veterans along with their family members.
