Eight foreigners arrested with heroin
Six Iranians and two Pakistanis who were arrested along with a parcel containing heroin by the Sri Lanka navy in the seas near Maldive were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau.
Police said the foreigners were arrested on June 22 following an inspection of a suspicious fishing vessel in the ocean near the Maldives.
The arrested suspects, aged between 17 and 48, had 926 grams of heroin in their possession.
They are to be produced before the courts today.
