Education sector to get digitised: Minister

In relation to the program of digitization of government and other services implemented by the government, plans have been drawn to implement the digitization of the part belonging to the education sector, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He said this while joining the main program held today at the Temple Trees for the grant of National Institute of Education (NIE) teachers.

A total of 2,355 teacher appointments to Western provinces and national schools were awarded under the leadership of the President and the Education Minister, while the remaining faculty appointments were also awarded simultaneously in 8 provinces.

The minister also said that in the future, the National Institute of Education (NIE) teaching diploma will be extended to four years and developed into a degree course and the teachers who have completed the diploma will be given the opportunity to develop it into a degree. It will be great if all the text books issued by the education ministry are available as e-book as well. Should issue text books to advanced levels as well, so that students who can do self study don't need to attend tuition classes.

If appointments were made after advertising and a competitive exam it is acceptable. If not we all have the bad taste that political supporters have been given appointments as usual, and that is corruption
