Colombo, April 9 (Daily Mirror) - The Education Ministry has issued a directive urging schools to exercise financial prudence when organizing festivals and other celebrations, following concerns over excessive spending that may place an additional burden on parents.
In a notice, the Ministry said that despite previous instructions, some schools continue to spend heavily on such events. It emphasized that all programs should be conducted in a cost-effective manner, minimizing unnecessary expenses while maintaining the quality of activities.
The directive further calls on school administrations to strictly adhere to Circular 54/2023, along with other financial regulations related to school management, to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds.
Authorities stressed that schools must take appropriate measures to prevent financial strain on parents while continuing to uphold the educational and cultural value of such events.
