Economy should be strengthened through industrial sector: Industry Minister



While bringing the country’s export economy to its maximum level, the government is paying more attention to the industrial sector by reducing imports and increasing import substitution production.

While addressing the advisory council committee meeting established under the Ministry of Industries yesterday, Plantation Industries and Minister of Industries Ramesh Pathirana requested the contribution and cooperation of all industrialists.

The problems faced by the industrialists in each field, as well as the current electricity and energy crisis, the obstacles in importing raw materials, the foreign exchange issues, and other issues such as in the process of import and export, were discussed.

A discussion was held over the use of renewable energy sources for industries. Everyone agreed to take all possible measures for the promotion of the industry by holding monthly advisory council committee meetings. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
