Economic stability has to be achieved while ensuring national security, political stability and maintaining law and order, newly appointed State Minister of Defence Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon said.

While assuming duties at the at the State Ministry of Defence, he requested the general public to be tolerant and thoughtful of the situation.

The State Minister said he will dedicate himself to successfully carry out the duty that is assigned to him by the President, to fulfil the national requirement.

Former Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, MP. Madhura Withanage, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Forces Commanders, Additional Secretaries of the Defence Ministry and State Defence Ministry, Chief of National Intelligence, Directors General of Sri Lanka Coastguard, Civil Security Department and DMC were also present at the occasion.

Obviously, this guy doesn't even understand that `national security` is not limited to political stability and law and order alone! Food security, the security of national assets (that are being thrown to other nations) and dignity of citizens is the foundation of any national security agenda. If this is the quality of RW appoints for such an important role, the future of this Govt is also very short.

So what's stopping you? And why do you emphasise on National security that much when the war was over 13 years ago? You must mean the security to the government backing politicians against an uprising by the starving people. Hence more than a dozen times allocation for armed forces over education and health.

Even cutting back the military to 50,000 will bring us in line with other countries a few times our size. We can't have economic revival with money printing, and that's necessary because of the excessively sized military.

Enough of your nonsense newly appointed State Minister. We don't need to keep tolerating the inflation caused by printed money being provided to pay military personnel anymore. State Minister, you sound like a thug, trying to make taking money off hard working person good, saying you tolerate. Got to hell with your tolerance. The country will rise up and most military will be put of job. Of course we need 20,000 military just for decoration, but not the 300,000 plus money waste we have now.
