Earthquake in Syria: No Lankans affected: Embassy confirms

The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that there are no reports of Sri Lankans affected by the earthquake in Syria.

While issuing a media release, Ambassador-designate Kapila Jayaweera, based in Beirut and accredited to Syria, confirmed it.

Sri Lanka is shocked to learn of the loss of lives and damage to properties from the devastating earthquake in the Syrian Arab Republic and wishes to convey its profound condolences to the government and people of that country, the media release said.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and we wish speedy recovery to the injured as we share the grief of the Syrian people and stand in solidarity at this difficult time, the statement added.
