Colombo, March 04 (Daily Mirror) - Labour Minister Anil Jayantha today pledged to use EPF and ETF funds to bring in more benefits to the working people instead of unproductive investments that it had made in the past.
“We have seen how EPF and ETF was invested in an unproductive manner in the past. However, we will bring in new laws to ensure that the working people get maximum benefit by putting these funds for more productive use,” the Minister said winding up the committee stage debate on the budget in Parliament.
Also, he pledged to digitalize EPF and ETF tougher with Ministry of Digital Technology Development. “EPF and ETF will be operated online in the future,” he said in this regard.
Further, he pledged to bring in new laws which will do away with industrial disputes for good.
He said Sri Lanka labour laws will be amended to be in line with global trends. “Laws pertaining to industrial and production relations have changed and Sri Lankan laws will also be amended to be in line with the global situation. However, we will see to it that employees will have a greater say in decision-making in an organization.
