Colombo, March 27 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Eranga Gunasekara, a suspect in the investigation into the attack that destroyed UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence at Fifth Lane, Kollupitiya, on July 09, 2022, and for obstructing the Fire Brigade, failed to appear before Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura when the case was heard on March 26.
Gunasekara’s counsel informed the Court that he could not attend due to health issues. Several other suspects also cited their inability to appear.
In response, the Magistrate issued arrest warrants for four suspects and ordered Gunasekera to appear in Court at the next hearing. Among those who did appear were former MP J.C. Ranga, Andrew Ivon Perera, Raigam Badarage Manju, Wettamunige Sherin Wickremesingha, Dilruk Madushanka, Ashan Sandeepa, Anwar Ali, and Koralage Indika Prasad.
