Following a recommendation by a specialist doctor, R. Duminda Silva has been transferred from the prison hospital to a general ward at the Welikada Prison, Prisons Commissioner and media spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake said.

He said that instructions have been issued to the Welikada Superintendent to take immediate action in the event of any sudden complications involving the prisoner.

R. Duminda Silva had been admitted to the prison hospital based on a recommendation from a specialist doctor at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, where he had been receiving inpatient treatment.

The Commissioner General of Prisons had previously written to the Director General of Health Services regarding the prisoner’s condition, prompting the appointment of an 18-member specialist medical team to evaluate his health.

The recommendation from the medical committee, received by the Prisons Department today, concluded that there is no longer a need for the prisoner to remain in the prison hospital or any other medical facility. The report further emphasized that immediate medical care should be provided in the event of any emergency complications.

When he was given a pardon by GR, he didn’t go to a hospital but to accept the appointment to head a government department. But when he returned to prison he went straight to the prison hospital. Typically Rajapakse gangster mentality.
