Colombo, July 29 (Daily Mirror)- Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake was released from the case filed against him over the alleged possession of a gold-plated firearm.

Mount Lavinia Magistrate A.D. Chathurika Silva ordered that there was no direct or investigative evidence to proceed with the case.

The firearm was reportedly found in the possession of a woman at a luxury housing complex in Wellawatte, prompting authorities to launch a probe into its ownership, during which the former Minister was taken into custody.

And he was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court and was ordered to be remanded. Later he was released on bail by the High Court on July 14.

If he was released without any charge, why was he taken into custody ? Why did the magistrates keep on extending his remand time ? Is it not a crime to own a working T56 machine gun ? Someone needs to give answeres as we too would like to keep T56 machine guns just for fun !!

@Nimal Jayamaha - read the article properly instead of a news item you yearned to appear incarcerating Mr. Duminda Dissanayake - "there was no direct or investigative evidence to proceed with the case." That is the reason why the Hon. Magistrate has released Mr. Duminda Dissanayake from the case.

So, how did Dissanayakae's driver obtained the gun? What is the answer to it? How did the driver got it gold plated? Why did he ask the woman to keep it as a place of secret hiding place? Is the driver the fall guy for the crooked former MP? Why the minister of police or minister of justice keeping mum over these critical questions?
